Scan to BIM

Transform your existing structures into intelligent 3D models with our Scan to BIM services. We capture precise as-built data using 3D laser scanning technology and convert it into detailed Building Information Models (BIM). This process enhances design accuracy, facilitates clash detection, and streamlines renovation or retrofitting projects, ensuring seamless integration of new and existing elements.

How It Works

Scan to BIM is a process that converts physical spaces and objects into accurate digital representations using 3D laser scanning and sophisticated modeling techniques. It starts with laser scanners that capture the spatial data of the built environment in the form of point clouds. These point clouds, which contain millions of precise data points, represent the real-world physical attributes of a building or space. The captured data is then processed and transformed into Building Information Models (BIM) using advanced software tools. These BIM models are not just geometric representations of the physical elements but also contain relevant data related to the buildings, such as materials used, the lifecycle of components, cost, and more. VectorNet employs state-of-the-art technology and expertise to ensure the creation of high-quality BIM models that serve the requirements of our clients.

What It Looks Like

Documenting architecture and building utility infrastructure is an important tool in managing and exchanging information amongst stakeholders. In this photo, we used BIM tools to review ductwork routing, take measurements, and collect material take-offs for a building retrofit. Our designers use various BIM software including, but not limited to, Revit, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and AutoCAD Civil 3D to extrude structural, piping, HVAC, conduit, and lighting features to provide clients with comprehensive as-built models.
